The Australian Muslim Welfare Centre Incorporated (AMWC) is a non-profit organisation based in south-west Sydney, Australia, established in 2007. It operates independently and aims to serve the local Muslim community. Located on a five-acre property at 13-17 Eagleview Road, AMWC seeks to nurture a strong Australian Muslim culture by providing a holistic Islamic community hub. This hub hosts various religious, cultural, and social activities to promote communal engagement and interaction.
The area has experienced a significant increase in its Muslim population in recent years. However, many of these Muslims belong to ethnic minorities, highlighting the importance of providing appropriate infrastructure and facilities to support their religious and cultural identity.
AMWC offers a range of welfare and wellbeing services to the community, including religious gatherings like Eid congregations and Ramadan Iftar programs, as well as socio-cultural events such as Eid festivals and regular programs for important Islamic occasions. Additionally, the organization is involved in charity work, both locally and globally, including disaster relief efforts, poverty alleviation, and raising awareness of global issues.
Previously, AMWC relied on hiring community centres for its programs and activities, which was unsustainable. Recently, the organisation established its own community facility on its property to better serve the needs of the growing Australian Muslim population in the area.
